Villa – New News

Saturday, January 8th, 2011

It’s Premier League match time at Villa Park on Saturday, December 11, when Aston Villa host West Brom Albion in match week 17.

I believed I would take a break from my usual monetary meanderings and write about a current trip my wife and I took to Spain. Like most Brits we craved for a bit of winter sun and also the recent weather within the UK quite much pushed us onto a plane without having too very much resistance.

However we had a hankering for a thing that got us close to the warmer parts but not the “bucket and spade brigade”.

Aston Villa are coming off a disappointing 3-0 loss to Liverpool, their fourth defeat on the trot. With just one win in their final 10 games, Villa are low on confidence.

After somewhat online looking we came across a rented villa, not by way of a major firm but privately. I was slightly hesitant at having to drive 45 minutes from Malaga Airport up the coast and into the hills but in truth the drive was so effortless on one straight road I had absolutely nothing to fear.

With just the lone striker in Agbonlahor, a fight-back seemed increasingly unlikely, even as Roy Hodgson’s squad doubled two minutes later. Villan’s only scoring opportunity came right away following the break when Agbonlahor took a shot at aim off a Downing cross only to determine Reina bring off a half-save cleared by Konchesky.

Beneath was Lake Vinuela a wonderful blue ocean tucked between the rolling hills. We already felt relaxed.

Two back-to-back wins have taken the Baggies to ninth position within the table. After they went ahead on 32 minutes by way of a Tchoyi strike, Newcastle got an opportunity to equalise immediately following the interval but Carson was equalt to the process as he saved a Taylor shot.

The striker got another aim within the dying stages and though Newcastle got a consolation in injury time, they had been no match for the Baggies on the day.

3 smart bedrooms, two clean bathrooms, modern kitchen, lounge and diner all kitted out with home comforts. not that we were going to invest a great deal of time here but it was nice to know we were not going to slum it. Outside we had our personal private pool, brick BBQ location and sun terrace with wonderful views down the hillside.

After 16 match weeks, Aston Villa are in 16th position inside the points table, on the brink of the relegation zone, while West Brom have jumped up to ninth.

Learning About Goalie Equipment

Monday, July 19th, 2010

How do you turn out to be a better soccer goalie? The answer is to master the lost art of basically catching the soccer ball. Simply blocking shots typically will not do a lot far more than enhance your save stats.

To obtain a simple lacrosse stick, expect to invest about $20-$30. Balls are normally provided by the school or team, and there might be several extra practice sticks lying around, but players are expected to have their own crosses(sticks) to play with.

Change Your Thought Process

1st of all, goalies need to change their thought process. Just slapping the ball away accomplishes nothing additional than giving the offensive team one more crack at the goal. Considering the fact that the goalie is almost certainly within the ground or horribly out of position, a ball from the back from the net becomes a near certainty.

Adequate Training

Regardless of gender, all players wear a mouth guard. Today you can’t get around the field with out a mouth guard.

Following a goalie is appropriately convinced catching the soccer ball will be the most effective technique, the next step is sufficient training to reach this milestone. Repetition is the key. You play like you practice. A goalkeeper must attempt to catch every single ball within the air in practice. It is most efficient to train using a partner. Commence off by kicking the ball inside the air at just about every other. Use a mix of volleys, half-volleys, shots of the ground, and headers. Be sure to train good form and fundamentals with each catch, and most importantly, “cushion every catch.”

Cushioning The Catch

‘ It is embedded in the impulse-momentum alter theorem. Since Force and Time are inversely proportional, this means that the longer an object is making contact, the less force it exerts. This is the reasoning behind airbags due to the fact they improve the level of time your body is impacting the inside of your vehicle. An airbag will boost the level of time versus an impact with a windshield by approximately a factor of 100. This very same effect is seen when a boxer “rides a punch” by moving his head backwards throughout a punch. The cushioning in a catcher’s mitt, a soccer goalie’s glove, a gymnastics floor, a football helmet, a wide receiver moving his hands with the football – all use exactly the same theory. If the time of impact is changed from 1/10 of the second to 1 second, the force felt will similarly decrease to 1/10.
